WHAT WE DO
At Literacy for Lowell, our goal is for every student to read at grade level and to be proficient in reading on state testing. As they gain access to specialized tutoring services on site during the school day, students can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. Literacy for Lowell is dedicated to working with small groups of students to provide intensive support to help them achieve grade-level competency. Many of our students are English Learners who greatly benefit from our services. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
We are constantly developing new strategies to overcome barriers to literacy and to create measurable impacts within our community. Reading proficiency is something that we take very seriously. ABOUT
Our mission is to provide free and accessible tutoring services to students who are reading below grade level. Literacy for Lowell will effectively bridge the gap between the Lowell Public School District's limited available funds dedicated to tutoring, and the increased need for tutoring that the school system is currently facing. Our initial plan of action is to utilize tutors who are currently working for the Lowell Public School District. These tutors' credentials have been verified and they have passed a CORI background check. Initially, Literacy for Lowell will increase tutorial services at the Stoklosa Middle School. Our long range plan is to provide tutoring services wherever they are needed within the district.
